Adding Notes to Plan Items

Collaborate effectively with your advisor by adding contextual notes directly to courses and activities in your academic plan. These notes provide valuable space for clarifications, reminders, and additional planning details that enhance the advising experience.

Creating Notes

Add notes from either location:

  • Plan your Path tab (left navigation)

  • Planner within the Progress tab

Add a Note

  1. Hover over any plan item (excluding remaining requirements)

  2. Click the +Add Note icon

  3. Enter your note in the text box

  4. Click the Add Note button

Note Access: Only plan items that have been placed into your schedule can receive notes, not remaining requirements.

Edit or Delete Notes

  • Your notes: Full edit and delete permissions

  • Others' notes: View-only access

Multiple Notes Per Item

Each plan item supports up to two notes, regardless of authorship. Add your note in the text box below existing notes and click Add Note.

Note Details

Click the document icon to view:

  • Note content

  • Author information

  • Note timestamp

Notification System

Receive notifications when advisors add notes to your plan items through:

  • Bell icon alert at the top of your screen

  • Detailed notifications: Click the bell for specifics

  • Change history: Click individual notifications to view plan modification history

Note: Your advisor does not get an automatic notification

No automatic notifications are sent when students add notes to their plan items.

This collaborative note system ensures clear communication between students and advisors throughout the academic planning process.
