How you can join a waitlist during registration

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can join a class waitlist during registration when the section is full.

If you try to register for a full section, Stellic will show a waitlist option (if your institution supports waitlists). Follow the prompts to join the waitlist and confirm your position. Some schools require you to actively opt in when a class is full. Details: Register for courses.

Steps to Join a Waitlist

  1. Attempt to Register:

    • Select the desired course and section during the registration process.

    • If the section is full, Stellic will display a "Waitlist" option (if your institution supports it).

  2. Join the Waitlist:

    • Select the "Waitlist" option.

    • Follow on-screen prompts to confirm your position on the waitlist.

    • Confirmation ensures you are now queued for a seat in the course.

  3. Stay Informed:

    • Monitor your Stellic dashboard and email for status changes related to your waitlist position.

Helpful Tips

  • Monitor Your Notifications:

    • Being on a waitlist does not guarantee enrollment. Keep an eye on your email and Stellic alerts.

  • Use 'Drop if Enroll' Option:

    • If you’re enrolled in a backup course, you can set up 'Drop if Enroll' when you join the waitlist.

    • This option allows you to enroll in your desired course automatically from the waitlist while ensuring you stay enrolled in your backup course.

Important Considerations

  • Institutional Variability:

    • Waitlist processes and notifications may differ by your institution.

    • Reach out to your institution’s registration office if you have questions about their specific waitlist policies.

  • No Guarantees:

    • Joining a waitlist does not ensure a spot in the course, so it’s wise to maintain alternative plans.

  • PeopleSoft schools: if you’re first in line when a seat opens, you’re auto-enrolled.

  • Banner schools: you’ll get a notification (email + Stellic banner) and must accept within a limited time. If you miss it, the seat goes to the next person. For example, when using PeopleSoft, the system automatically enrolls the first waitlist participant when a seat becomes available, making it a seamless experience. In contrast, with Banner, students must actively respond to notifications to secure their spot, highlighting the importance of monitoring your inbox and Stellic alerts.

If you’re already enrolled in another course, use Drop if Enroll to try for the full course while staying enrolled in your backup; if the new course is full, you’ll be added to the waitlist and kept in your original course until you clear it. See Register for courses. This feature ensures that you don't lose your existing enrollment status while waiting for a spot in your preferred course, bringing flexibility and security to the registration process.
