All admin (non-student) users in Stellic have the ability to create a test student view. This allows you to create a sandbox environment to explore and demo as if you were a student.
Note: If you are both an admin and a student at your institution, you will not see the ability to create a Test Student View. Instead, you will be able to toggle between your admin view and your own student record.
To create a Test Student View:
In the top-right hand corner, click on your picture or initials
Select Switch to Test Student View
Click create a new test account
Search for and select a student
Click Create
Click OK
Your page will refresh and you will enter a cloned Test Student View. The view has imported the student’s real data, but any changes you make are in sandbox and won’t impact the student’s experience.
You can switch back to your own account by clicking on your initials or picture in the top right-hand corner, and selecting Switch to Admin Account
Once you have created a Test Student View and then returned to your Admin Account, the next time you switch to Test Student View, you will be presented with two options:
Use your existing Test Student View
Create a new Test Student View
Test Student Views that you create are visible only to you. They are not shared to other users.
You are able to have one Test Student View set up at any given time. Once you choose a new student to create a new Test Student View, it will replace your previous view.
A few things to note:
When you are in Test Student View, you are seeing an approximation of the student's experience. This is not an impersonation of the student and it does not bring in all of the student's settings.
The Test Student View is completely anonymized. When we clone the student's data to bring into your test student view sandbox, we strip out all identifying information, including the student's name, email address, and advisor(s). This means that in place of the student's name, you will see your own name. Because the view is anonymized, many partners use Test Student View as a demo environment for internal trainings with staff, faculty and student users.
When you are in Test Student View, you will have a grey menu on the left with the student menu items, starting with:
Home
Track Progress
Plan Your Path
When you have this grey student menu, you are in a safe sandbox environment. You can freely plan, drag courses, practice messaging, and fully interact with the system. Anything you do in this environment will stay in the sandbox environment and will not create notifications or any adjustments to real student data or to the actual student record.
