Notifications Within Stellic

Notifications for administrative users

The following permissions within Stellic result in end users receiving notifications either within the Stellic application or also within their email (depending on their settings within Stellic). Permissions can be managed by any Stellic superadmins on your campus.

Notifications are also triggered by alerts, but are individually set by advisors and are not managed through permissions.

verify_plan

Found within the "Student" or "Studentset" categories, this permission gives the admin the ability to mark a students plan as "reviewed". Assigning a user this permission prompts a notification to any user with this permission for that student once a student requests to have their plan reviewed.

chat

Found within the "Student" or "Studentset" categories, this permission gives the admin the ability to send and receive student messages within the Stellic application. Assigning a user this permission prompts a notification when a student sends a message directly to the user within Stellic.

make_exception

Found within the "Student" or "Studentset" categories, this permission gives the admin the ability to make an exception within a student's audit. This permission does not necessarily give notifications within Stellic - it depends on the set up of other configurations that the institution chooses. If neither of the below configurations are selected by the institution, this permission does not result in notifications for admins.

  • Advisors requesting exception - This is an option that must be turned on for an institution in order to initiate this workflow. When turned on, any advisors that are able to view the student can request an exception on the student's audit. This request results in a notification to any user that has the make_exception permission on the student.

    • If the exception is accepted, both the advisor that requested the exception and the student are notified.

    • If the exception is rejected, only the advisor that requested the exception receives a notification. They can then modify the exception and resubmit if needed.

  • Students requesting exception - This is an option that must be turned on for an institution in order to initiate this workflow. When turned on, students can request an exception on their own audit. This request results in a notification to any user that has the make_exception permission on the student. The student is then notified once the exception has been accepted or rejected.

audit-publish

Found within the "School', "Department", "Audit", and "Program" categories, this permission gives the user the ability to publish any changes to a degree audit. If there are admins that have the create or edit permissions for an audit, but not the publish permission, they can request to publish an audit once they are done with changes. Any user with the publish permission for that particular audit will receive a notification when a publish request is submitted.
