Quickstart Guide: Advisor
Updated over 7 months ago

Welcome to Stellic!

We're excited to give you more time for quality advising by providing an easier way to follow student degree progress and set up alerts to keep track of your advisees! This article serves as a quick look at some of the primary features of Stellic - for more detailed information about additional Stellic functionality for faculty, staff, and advisors, please visit the following articles and collections:

First off, you’ll have lots of options for how to find students, or groups of students, within the Stellic platform. You can filter your student search to pull a group of students with a certain GPA, specific requirements left to plan, or many other options.

Within the search results, you’ll see information on each student, such as affiliated programs, courses taken and remaining, and alerts. Click on any student for their full plan and profile.

You can save a search filter as a ‘Quick Filter’ to use again. This is also a great way to keep tabs on certain students, since we’ll show you if the number of students who meet the search criteria changes between visits.

You can also print a bulk audit report from your search results, using the Actions button above your student search results.

To see a student’s full plan and profile, click on any student from the search results, or search their name or username. At the top of the student’s profile, you’ll see basic information, including cumulative and semester GPA, degree progress, and the courses they are currently taking or registered for. Scroll down to see their audit -- the full list of courses needed to complete their degree plan. You can choose to view their official audit (only classes they have taken, or are registered for) or their planned audit (which includes courses they have planned out within Stellic). You can also choose to view a compact audit, or only the requirements they have remaining.

Check here for more information on how to interpret the audit, and symbol identification.

Stellic also allows exceptions to be made on student plans. Read the full Exceptions article for more information, and reach out to your institution's Stellic administrator for information on who has the ability to make exceptions.

To view the student’s plan by term, click ‘Planner’. We’ll show pre- and co-requisite information using grey highlights. You can click on any course (in Audit or Planner view) for course details.

From their profile, you can also print several variations of an audit report for this student, or reach out to them through the Stellic messages feature.

Another great feature in Stellic is student alerts. To access your Alerts, go to Notification Settings, either from your name or notification icon in the top right-hand corner. This feature lets you set up emails or in-app notifications for things like a drop in GPA or a failing grade.
