Using Placeholders
Updated over a week ago

Placeholders are handy for when you know you need to fill a requirement, but you’re not sure yet which specific course you want to take. You can hold a spot in your term for the requirement you want and choose between available courses later.

You can add a placeholder by dragging a requirement from the degree requirements sidebar.

You can also add a placeholder by clicking on the "Add to term" button in the term you want to select, then searching for a specific requirement.

Placeholders will be shown with a dotted outline, and clicking the placeholder box will show all courses that would fill that requirement in the sidebar. Once you have decided on a course to use for the placeholder, you can drag a course into your plan which will then replace the placeholder. The course then shows with a solid line instead of the dotted line designating a placeholder.

Tip: It’s good to note that placeholders won’t be able to give you information about pre-requisites, or guarantee that you’ll be able to find an available class in that semester.
