How to Auto-Generate Your Schedule

Create your schedule

  1. Click the Go to Schedule button when your courses are added.

  2. For courses with unspecified sections, click Auto Generate Schedule. The system will quickly create a valid schedule combination

  3. Review the recommended section options

  4. Verify availability and any enrollment notes.

  5. Make manual adjustments by selecting alternative sections as needed.

Getting Started

To generate your first schedule:

  1. Navigate to your planned courses/ schedule view

  2. Click the Auto-Generate Schedule button on the right course section panel

  3. The system will quickly create a valid schedule combination

Locking Sections

To lock preferred sections:

  1. After generating a schedule or manually selecting any sections, click the Auto-Generate Schedule button to view which sections you can lock.

  2. Review the sections currently in your schedule

  3. Lock specific sections by clicking the section you want to keep

To regenerate with locked sections:

  1. Click Generate

  2. The system will only show schedules that include your locked sections

  3. Repeat this process to explore different combinations while keeping your preferred sections

Including Waitlist Sections

To expand your search to include waitlisted courses:

  1. When the locking popup appears, look for the AVAILABILITY section. Uncheck this box to include adding sections that are currently full which you can join the waitlist for

  2. Click Generate to expand your search

  3. New schedule generations will include options where you can join waitlists for full sections

Regenerating Schedules

To try different schedule combinations:

  1. Click Generate at any time

  2. The system will create a new valid combination

  3. If you have locked sections, they will remain in all new schedules

  4. Continue clicking to explore different options

Tips for Best Results

  • Start simple: Generate a basic schedule first, then lock sections you like

  • Lock strategically: Lock your most important or hard-to-schedule courses first
